Emma had her 8 year check up today. She is growing at a steady pace and her height and weight are in the 80th percentile.
She is 52 inches and 63.5 pounds. Her hearing is perfect (she gets that from me) and her eyesight is perfect (she gets that from her daddy). She is thrilled that she is fast approaching the height of her vertically challenged Mama. I am sure I will be looking up at her way before I am ready.
She did get a shot today and was a little nervous about that. She got the Hepatitis A shot, which is optional. She will get a booster in 1 year. She requested the shot in her thigh, although for her age I think it should have been in her arm. The nurse complied and wasted no time. The shot was over so fast and Emma let out a high pitched squeak that made us all laugh. She now declares that she loves shots, along with Brussels sprouts, broccoli and asparagus. Strange child.
Another funny thing while at the doctors' office... When Emma was getting her shot, the nurse squeezed some excess liquid from the needle and it got on the paper that lined the exam table. Right near where Emma was sitting. After the shot was over and done, Emma jumped off the exam table and I asked Emma if she wet herself because she was nervous. You would have thought that was the funniest thing I have ever said! Who knew a trip to the doctor would result in so much laughter?

What a sweet, grown-up girl you are, Emma! Soon you will be taller than your Mama and your Aunt Robyn. Will you go grocery shopping with me and reach things on the top shelf?
