Dog World

So, I am sitting here checking email and whatnot and Emma is playing with the dogs. Then this:

E: Mommy, how do the baby puppies get out of the Mommy dogs tummy? Do they come out of her behiney?
Me: (I cover my mouth with my hand to keep from laughing) No, the puppies come out of the part she uses to pee pee.
E: Ewwww! So the puppy comes out and it closes back up? Doesn't it hurt?
Me: I am sure it kinda hurts but the dogs body is made to do that.
E: So is Maggie going to have puppies soon?
Me: No, Maggie will not ever have puppies. (she was spayed)
E: Why not?
Me: Because you need a boy puppy to make baby puppies.
E: Oh! So in dog world the boy and the girl dog can both have babies!

At this point the conversation ended (thank goodness!) and she was on to something else. I am so not ready to have "the talk" with my 7 year old. I guess I should be prepared because I am sure she is going to come at me with tougher questions and I need to have some good, age appropriate answers!
