And So It Begins...

For those that don't know, Emma is in a new school this year. Emma knew lots of kids from summer camp and her old school. I, on the other hand, was feeling a little disconnected from this school. Last year, I got to know lots of other moms by volunteering and chatting at pick up time. Now G takes Emma to school and she rides the bus home. So, not so much chatting and getting to know other parents. I asked Emma's teacher if there was a way we could get a class directory to get to know the other kids names, if they live close, phone number and birthdays. The list came home on Thursday. This happened on Saturday...

The phone rings. Not a number I recognize but I answer anyway.

Me: Hello.
Voice: Hi. (silence)
Me: Are you calling to talk to someone? (It was a little girl's voice.)
Voice: Yes.
Me: Who are you calling to talk to?
Voice: Emma
Me: Oh, ok, let me go get her. Who is this?
Voice: This is Brooke.

So, I am guessing that the kids in Emma's class have found the directory and are now calling their classmates! Emma and Brooke ended up talking for about 15 minutes about anything and everything. Even Timothy got on the phone at one point! And so it begins...
We found out that Emma's friend and classmate Aubrey lives on our street. And another classmate lives in the back of the neighborhood. Good to know for those days that Emma is soooo bored!
